Funding for Gwydir Flood Study

Funding for Gwydir flood study

Minister for Environment the Hon. Robyn Parker announced funding in the sum of $90,000 under the State Floodplain Management Program and the Floodplain Risk Management Grants Scheme for Council to review the existing Gwydir flood study. This financial injection is very welcome and will allow Council to undertake the review early 2012.

Koorilgur Nature Walk

The upgrade of the Warialda‟s Koorilgur Nature Walk project is complete. The walk is multifaceted which appeals to locals and visitors alike. Koorilgur is an indigenous word which means "low shrub‟.

The project was new entrance and directional signs installed displays of plant identification and information, general work on the actual walking tracks and new gardens.

Bingara and Warialda Waste Recovery Centre

  • Monday to Sunday open 8.30 am – 12
  • Monday to Sunday closed 12 – 1.30pm
  • Monday to Sunday open 1.30pm – 5.30pm

Please ensure that you allow enough time to drop off your waste and leave the facility by the designated closing times. Residents are reminded that the centre maybe closed during and as a result of wet weather, emergencies or poor visibility. Your assistance in sorting waste and recyclables and disposing of them in the nominated areas will assist in improving the efficiency of the centre.
